Having both is probably not a good use of dollars.
The best technical support is direct on-site support and the worst is via email. The most expensive is direct on-site and the least expensive is email. So I imagine EMB is trying to provide something in the middle.
If they would go full-community here like I was describing. Third-parties would have a reason to help build this community because they might be able to make a buck here. People could provide technical support and other things for money! When people can buy food they are more likely to be able to help others with their problems.

I think we need to move to a system that promotes community in the new web way. I think we should all have the ability to have our own web page here. That's what most of today's community sites provide.
This community site needs to be innovative. Just like Delphi was when it first came out. I think EMB has a great start here. But they need to go full-blown community with product promotion and market development in mind.

John is always fixing them as the break. But I think his time would be better spent working on this new community.

While I have nothing against the old forums. I think they should export them to webpages instead of using the *old forums* for read-only. That way people will better understand whats up. Also they can embellish the posts with some color and other snazzy stuff!!!

Since the blog doesn't work on the community site you said you could point to an outside blog. So here it is: visualdelphi.wordpress.com
I was wanting to have the unit names on the new menu. But templates look like they might be better to use instead. I created a component editor that adds a "Create database..." menu option to IBDatabase that brings up a form to create a new database file for Interbase. If they ever get the community blogs working I'll create an article and post it there.
Thanks.

BTW, DavidI, I see the new community forums could use an extra mod or two. I don't use email but if EMB accommodates special circumstances then I can volunteer a bit of my time to help as a mod.
It felt weird at first. But this is working really good for me. My work day is much better and more productive. I don't get distracted or frustrated with email now.
That would be a cool session but there still is no way for someone who doesn't use email to register for CodeRage9.
I don't think there are any mods here Dalija. The messaging system also doesn't seem to work. At least not for me. Try to message me and see if you just get a blank message box. That's what happens when I try to use it.
I messaged someone at EMB about all the posts here that are off-topic but I didn't hear back.

I found that you can add the object to the object repository then customize the menus to display it.
