I reported a few spam posts and guess what? Yep, another series of bounced emails is beginning - even better, this time the emails generated by the forum report are being rejected by their own spam filter because they include a copy of the spam post which is automatically attached to the message to the moderator!
Another email to a non-Embarcadero email address is being rejected because they're faking my email as the sender and their mailer is noticing that their relay mail server is not authorised by the DNS SPF record to send email for my domain!
Classic keystone cops dysfunction!

There's a free (register/login) Delphi 10.2 starter edition downloadable from https://www.embarcadero.com/products/delphi/starter/promotional-download but it is not an ISO, it is an executable which I guess does a web install.

I can't test it as I have the Pro version installed already and they're not compatible - dire warnings if I proceed!

I downloaded the C++ Builder I think it is Berlin 10.1 or something and I'm not quite clear on the price. It says free on the site but if it is free then why does the company give you a serial number? That's what I'm worried about.

Yes, it is really FREE.
The serial number is most probably necessary for licence management.

Just as a side note I have used C++ Builder many, many years ago and I always liked it.

I used it too from v1 through v3, along with Delphi v1 though v7, although I did prefer Delphi, I sometimes wrote the same program in both for fun :)

Too bad there never was a lot of books written on it, Kent Reisdorph's name seems to be on most of them. I never understood why more books were never put out.

I'm just a hobbyist doing it for fun at home.

I've been a commercial developer, but these days it's mainly a hobby and the open spurce Lazarus/FPC is looking quite promising as a Delphi alternative (I've converted programs from Delphi v5 and v7 and Kylix v3 to L/FPC without too many issues and with the benefit of being cross-platform - macOS and Linux/FreeBD).

You can check your past installer but looking if you have a Tools | Managed Platforms menu command in your IDE. This is available only if you used the GetIt installer.

I extracted the icons from the default .icns file on OSX/macOS as above.
I was curious because the Preview app crashed when trying to open the .icns file and because the
OSX/macOS default generic icon kept showing up for my Delphi 10.1 Berlin application unless I
reduced the desktop icon size to 32x32. As you can see, some of the files are invalid.
