TOPIC: Undergoing community website changes

Undergoing community website changes 8 years 1 month ago #3209

<p>Some ongoing modifications on this site have undesired effects.</p>
<p><em>Who is online</em> now shows user login instead of name and thus leaking email addresses of users that use them for login. Please, revert that ASAP.</p>
<p>Remember me on login page no longer works. I have to login every single time I reopen browser.</p>
<p>And feature request that has already been mentioned several times, but here it goes again: please show full name including surname for users (or add additional filed that would allow us to customize in account settings). It is hard to know to who is who if only first name is shown. </p>

<p>On trying to post replies to the forum I get the erro message:</p>
<p><strong>Error:</strong> You have entered information to an obsolete form from another session. Please verify that the user account is yours and please try again!</p>
<p><br /> The forum appears to have logged me out between penning this response and submitting it.</p>
<p><strong>This has now happened every time I have tried to do so this afternoon. Very annoying!</strong></p>
<p>And why are lines being double-space now once posted?</p>

<div>Forum Master:</div>
<div> </div>
<div>As a first time user of these new forums, I thought that you might appreciate my following comments.</div>
<div>Under Embarcadero Community ( https://community.embarcadero.com/forum/main-forum )</div>
<div>I find</div>
<div>Home > Forums > General</div>
<div>Under the above, I find main topic “General” and under that summaries of two messages:</div>
<div>1st “Welcome/Forum Rules” which includes the statement: “Please choose from one of the forums below and try to post to the most appropriate for your topic.”</div>
<div> </div>
<div>And below that is the</div>
<div>2nd “Installation Issues” which says “This forum is for discussions about general installation topics.”</div>
<div>Referring back to the 1st, there are no other forums shown to select from. Surely there are other forums.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>So I click on Welcome/Forum Rules and it takes me to</div>
<div>HomeForumsGeneralWelcome/Forum Rules</div>
<div>Which shows me a lot of messages by subject, date, and by whom – most of which, judging by the subject lines specific and not of a general or forum rules nature.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>What is going on here? As an old timer, I found the old NNTP forum a lot easier to browse and find stuff in. Or if you have to modernize, maybe the reviews in https://www.cmscritic.com/resource-lists/forum-list/ would help you to find some tried and refined forum software solutions. I particularly like the forum system from https://www.vbulletin.com/ that powers http://forums.jetphotos.net/forumdisplay.php?f=29 and many other forums.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>And here below are more comments from my experience posting this message.</div>
<div>While viewing</div>
<div>HomeForumsGeneralWelcome/Forum RulesUndergoing community website changes</div>
<div>I clicked on the “Reply Topic” button. It brought up a page with the titles</div>
<div>HomeForumsGeneralWelcome/Forum RulesUndergoing community website changesReply Topic</div>
<div>and “Reply Topic: Undergoing community website changes” under which was a message form with the subject line and content of my previous message on a different subject in a different forum already filled in. Curious!</div>
<div> </div>
<div>And more, in the message window, the down arrow key does not always move the cursor down. It sometimes gets stuck on a particular place in a line or at the bottom of the window, it will now cause the window to scroll, like it should.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>And even more, the ctrl-U will sometimes not clear the underline under a space character.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>What is the little "p" for at the bottom of the editing screen? Well now it is "div".</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The Tag lookup is like a slow guessing game.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Further, Your forum message editor has the worst time, by far, with handling the pasted enbedded MS Word editing codes of any editor that I have ever used in my 50+ years of using computer programs.</div>

<div>It is interesting. After complaining of the lack of a list of forums, now when I goto https://community.embarcadero.com/forum , I see about five forums listed. I bet that there are more.</div>
