RAD Studio XE2 World Tour: Belgrade, Serbia Last Thursday I have been to Belgrade in Serbia to demonstrate the new RAD Studio XE2, Delphi and FireMonkey to more then 40 developers. I took some pictures, but my mobile phone no longer works, so they are still stuck in the memory of my iPhone. If I manage to repair my phone I will put them here later. Native development is strong in Serbia and everybody loved the new Delphi XE2 and FireMonkey. One of the other impressive things to show was a blog post by Andreano with the photo of 700 Del...
FireMonkey in Action LIVE - Utrecht, The Netherlands Last week I had a pleasure to do "FireMonkey in Action LIVE!!!" presentation to about 80 Delphi and C++Builder Dutch developers in Jaarbeurs conference centre in Utrecht in the Netherlands. Detlef from Blaise Pascal magazine has been video recording the whole event. After a short RAD Studio XE2 overview, I have jumped directly into FireMonkey architecture, the inner workings of effects, filters, animations, custom styles and FireMonkey component development. Thanks Margreet and Raymond from Barn...

I have managed to get to Ljubljana to show RAD Studio XE2, new Delphi and FireMonkey to more then 80 programmers in Slovenia, despite the fact that my flight was cancelled due to fog. The next day fog in Ljubljana was even heavier and I was not able to get to Sofia for the event there. The RAD Studio XE2 event in Bulgary has been rescheduled to next week, December 6th. It is a good time to be a Delphi or C++Builder programmer. Native dev...

An update on XE2 updates We've been really busy these last few months releasing updates to XE2 as we had discussed during the release. Last week we shipped Update 2 and yesterday a hot-fix for C++ developers targeting MacOS X Lion, so I thought I would take a moment to discuss our update strategy in a bit more detail. We are aggressively trying to update at the end of each month and have so far met that schedule. These updates have included not only FireMonkey fixes but also other product fixes. Of note however, on t...

ITDevCon 2011 I'm back from Verona from ITDevCon 2011. This was my 3rd time to participate in this biggest annual European Delphi conference. Same as in 2009 and 2010 the energy was very positive and Fabrizio's crew from bitTime did a great job in making it attractive and interesting event. The conference started from the keynote by Fabrizio, Daniele and David I and was followed by the "Delphi XE2 Overview" that I had a pleasure to co-present with David I. We were talking about all the cool stuff in XE...

LiveBindings: FillList using enumerable objects The previous post introduced a utility method called FillList and showed how to call it using BindScopeDB1 as the source component.  TBindScopeDB allows TBindList to work with a TDataSet. This post shows a version of FillList which can work with enumerable objects such at TStrings or TList<> (an object is enumerable if it implements GetEnumerator).   TBindScope is used instead of TBindScopeDB.   Here is a FillList method which can populate a list control from an enumerable object:  ...
