DevCon environment update and other misc stuff Fortunately, the lab problem has been resolved, with power strips and extra desks being provided.. Thanks Borland and support staff! Unfortunately, the issue of repeat sessions lingers, with some lamenting that they were not able to make sessions (including myself) and absolutely no repeats were available. Considering the circumstances, this has been a good DevCon. As above, Borland and support staff have been great. The repeat sessions issue is probably something that can be ironed ou...

What's New In The Delphi Compiler? This session is far less packed than the “What's New In Delphi” session was. I'm in the front two rows and surrounded by the likes of Marco Cantu, Lino Tadros, Nick Hodges and Allen Bauer. The room is totally packed out, with people lining up around the corner. My guess is that they'll need to repeat this later today or tomorrow. The first thing we notice is that BDS 2006 has a much faster start-up time. I'm sure that will please many people. The IDE seems also more responsive than Delphi 2005. Some of the key features: The fact that C++Builder is no...

DevCon begins.. Here I am at 2.40am Pacific Time writing my first blog entry about DevCon 2005. My flight from Sydney to San Francisco (subsequent to arriving in Sydney from Adelaide) was rather uneventful, thankfully.. other than the customary huge line up at immigration. Having said that, to CBP's credit, the masses moved through rather smoothly. This is my first time to San Francisco, so every step is a new adventure. It started with the fabulous rail system known as BART, which I had hoped wa...
