Hit the road, Jack! Go RAD Studio XE3! Blog is very much like a "log". Place to make a note of something that heppened. I like to document here different events that I'm presenting on or at least participating in. Programming events I mean... The more events there is and the more frequent they get, it is more and more difficult to do it in a timely fashion. Today we have done with Stephen and Jon the last Developer Direct live webinar and I have realised that I have not been documenting my live events in the last month or so! The...

C++ for Delphi developers, episode #1 (+CodeRage 7) I've made a webinar with funny title "From Delphi to C++ and back" for Russian audience. Guys said "nice, go on!" Based on 15 year experience in training IT, I've summarized and recovered my typcial stories, having optimized them to be up-to-date. This is episode 1. We'll start C++ and begin using it actively before 2013, as Delphi guys and ladies need only some short videos to a) feel the difference b) bridge the gaps, if they haven't used C++ actively before. Next episode will explain h...

Please, register for CodeRage7 C++Builder, join and comment. We'll continue our discussion, and I'll pesent parctical steps for splitting thick client. It's useful for Delphi guys also, although we'll see C++ code (but not in big pile)....

Components vs Children in FireMonkey You have probably iterated through the Components array many many times as a Delphi developer. Consider this simple application: It's probably no surprise that listing the Components of the form like this... procedure TForm2.Button1Click(Sender: TObject); var i: Integer; begin Memo2.Lines.Clear; for i := 0 to ComponentCount-1 do Memo1.Lines.Add(Components[i].ClassName+' (Name = "'+Components[i].Name+'")') end; ...gives you the following output, which is very ...
