VCL news from DevExpress

Posted by on in Blogs
I received the following information in the July 15th issue of the DevExpress Newsletter by Developer Express.  DevExpress is one of our Premier Technology Partners for Delphi, C++Builder, Delphi Prism, and RAD Studio.

VCL Team Kicking in the Overdrive

Over the past couple of months, the VCL team here at DevExpress have not been standing still. Build 45 of the VCL Subscription was released last week and contains many improvements and fixes to all controls. Meanwhile, the work on ExpressLayout Control v2 and ExpressPrinting System v4 continues apace: the latest feature being completed is PDF export, so expect that soon in beta. They're also in the process of converting and polishing the latest .NET skins to the VCL skin format and these will be made available as soon as possible.

DevExpress Channel: VCL Training - The Layout Control

The DevExpress Channel continues to serve as a valuable resource for our .NET and VCL component users. The latest video provides a quick and easy walkthrough on how to create and customize a simple layout using the ExpressLayout Control.

The ExpressLayout Control is a VCL component which provides advanced capabilities for creating, customizing and maintaining the layout of controls on a form. By watching the training video, you'll learn how to create a simple data entry form and use the Layout Control to group and organize the entry fields in a grid-like manner.

Thank you, DevExpress, for your continuous support of our products and our customers.

DevExpress is one of the few life buoy that kept Delphi afloat in the past years, where VCL improvements were few and often buggy (and while DevExpress releases fixes, CodeGear stops within six months...)
It is true that their main committment looks to be on .NET nowadays, and how could we blame them? It's already good enough they did not shutdown their VCL business. Codegear should build a temple for some of their partners, where to kneel and thank them every morning.
And hope you understand the financial strain each Delphi update carries when developers are forced to rely so much on many non-standard libraries.
