Developer Christmas Countdown - December 16 - T minus 9 days
December 16 - 9 more days until it's Christmas!
We are now in the single digits countdown to Christmas Day. You still have plenty of time to get your shopping done (especially if you do it online -perhaps using one of our Embarcadero Shop Sites), fill those stockings with stuffers and send out those holiday eCards, eMails and even real stamped cards. I've been doing my other temporary job, Santa Claus, in San Francisco (yesterday) and today in Scotts Valley. It's so much fun to see the kids and our employees enjoying this time of year. For some of the kids, I have been their only Santa over the past 12 years. But now it's time to put the suit away and get back to work (at least for another few days). There is plenty of programming to do, articles to write, blogs to post and emails to answer.
Thanks for the Emails!
Some of you received personal emails from me this week. Yes, there were from my email address and I am reading all of the replies and processing the change addresses, unsubscribes and bad addresses myself. Most rewarding is reading all of your well thought out feedback and advice detailing what more we can do to help you in the future. We are definitely reading and listening.
A few of the email thoughts included:
Keep those emails coming. I read them all and pass them along to team members as well.
Embarcadero Products for Government, Healthcare and other industries
We have solution focused pages on our Embarcadero database tools and developer software web site containing white papers and other information for our customers that work in the Government departments and Healthcare industries. Check out the white papers, videos and customers stories for these and other industries. We also have our application showcase that highlights our products use in other industries (you can filter by category to match the segment work in). You can also read the customer stories on our Case Studies pages. From independent software vendors (ISVs), systems integrators (SIs) and VARs to government organizations, OEMs, and IT and R&D groups within large enterprise teams, Embarcadero tools empower developers and database professionals to design things right, build them faster, and run them better. The Case Studies documents (PDF format) let you explore how our customers are using Embarcadero award winning, best-in-class tools to develop innovative new applications, facilitate fluid collaboration between development roles, and improve individual and team productivity.
If you can't find the information that will help you be successful in your company or organization's projects, let me know. I can help get you the information you need.

- What can Embarcadero do to help programmers get started. Some of you are moving from one industry to get started in our high tech world. Others are young and just picking up programming. Still othere are retired but looking to do some automation for themselves and friends. We have loads of videos, articles, tutorials and white papers to help you. There are tens of thousands of articles, code examples and lessons to help get you started. One good place to start is with our trial products and the videos from our annual CodeRage and DataRage virtual conferences. For videos, you'll find all of our videos on Channel-E (the Embarcadero video channel). If you need more help getting started, send me an email or post a comment at the end of this blog.
- Another area of interest in the replies is the status of our Delphi 64-bit compiler development. I can assure all of you that we are on track with our work to deliver a 64-bit Delphi compiler for Windows in our next major release. Several of our evangelism team showed early previews of the 64-bit compiler in action during our Rad Studio XE world tour. A great wat to get your hands on the next release and 64-bit compiler is to purchase Rad Studio XE with Software Assurance (maintenance and support). This will make sure that you receive all the updates and releases during the next 12 months. If you are interested, stay tuned to our Embarcadero blogs and EDN for field test announcements next year.
- Most gratifying have been the compliments and thanks that many of you have passed along to our development team. I can assure you that the developers in Embarcadero offices around the world are here working for you and we're having a blast building great database and developer tools. We love all of your suggestions, all of your comments and the issue reports and workarounds you put into Quality Central.
Keep those emails coming. I read them all and pass them along to team members as well.

Great picture.
Just wanted to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I wish you continued success in 2011.
don't know if you remember me from the old turbopascal days, but we met several times at TUG and then the Borland conferences in the late '80s and early 90s.
Still doing delphi destop apps after all these years! Trying to get some PHP under the belt now. Tough teaching an old dog new tricks.
Long time turbo guy/delphi guy.
