December 24 - Christmas Eve - T Minus less than 24 hours

Friday, December 24 - Christmas Eve - it's quiet in the house, and the servers are humming.

One more day to go until the big man in the red suit visits our houses and delivers great software tools and geek gifts for us all to enjoy.  I probably won't be able to keep from blogging about all the great stuff and food.  Before I leave the computer on this wonderous eve, I thought I would write "A Developer's Night Before Christmas" poem.  Have a great evening everyone!

A Developer's Night Before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through IT

Not a team member was stirring, not even a PC.

The servers were idling, the databases were waiting

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be updating.

The developers were nestled all snug in their lairs

While visions of iPads danced beneath their hairs.

Me on my PC, and Darryl Taft wearing his hat

Had just sat down to play World of Warcraft.

When out on the net there arose such a clatter,

I sprang to by browser to Google what's the matter.

And into the window after a few keyboard taps

I scrolled up and down to get all the haps.

The news of the day was nothing exceptional

The usual sales, sports scores and news processional.

When, suddenly to my screen, a big item did appear

It was Google tracking stocks, Santa and  his reindeer.

With that jolly old developer in red suit and beard

I knew we were in for something quite weird.

Whistling and flailing on keyboard so hard,

He listed tech companies with stellar grade cards

Now Apple!, Now Google! Now Facebook and Cisco.

On Salesforce! On Microsoft! On Oracle and Nintendo.

To the top of the charts, to the top of wall street,

Now innovate, innovate, innovate to beat.

That jolly old developer kept up his great hacking,

Using Embarcadero tools that keep him smiling.

And I heard him exclaim as he turned out the light,

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
