RAD Studio in Tel Aviv rocks! Just back from Software Development Conference in Israel. There was probably around 600 attendees gathered in Hilton Tel Aviv hotel. It is always great to meet existing, loyal Delphi developers. They are very happy with the latest versions of RAD Studio. At conferences like this it is also interesting to meet developers new to Delphi and C++Builder. Embarcadero message of "native multi-device development from one source code" resonates very well and developers love the possibility t...

Amsterdam Smartcity Hackathon 2015 Last week I have been participating in The Appsterdam Smart City Challenge 2015 in one-person Embarcadero team. My Delphi XE8 mobile app "Multilanguage Mile" did not get to the Top 5, but it was a very interesting and inspiring event. The hackathon took place in the Amsterdam ArenA stadion. It was the very first time that anybody was allowed to stay over night in Ajax ArenA. There was 65 developers and designers in 12 teams competing in building innovative apps for smart cities! Th...

Do-Say-See Tutorial: Use Delphi XE8 to build EMS e-mail checker service and client Two weeks ago I was doing the EMS demo session for Delphi developers in London. That was good fun! Would you like to do it yourself? In this post you will find detailed steps of my demo. Enjoy! The source code of this demo can be downloaded from Embarcadero Code Central. There were some comments on social media, so I think that a disclaimer is in place. The demo "E-mail Checker" service does not check if a given e-mail address actually exists. The service is only as good as the regul...
Fast Apps Fast at Android Dev Days in Ankara I'm in sunny Ankara, the capital of Turkey, for the Android Developer Days 2015 conference. Embarcadero has its booth here and I had a pleasure to do two live sessions yesterday to young and happy developers. The first session was about developing "Fast Apps Fast" with Delphi XE8 and it attracted more people that could possibly fit into the presentation room. The second session was about building Delphi XE8 proximity-aware apps with new "TBeacon" component. I like good energy of this conference...
RAD Studio XE8 Launch in Brno today was great! Just sitting at the Prague airport waiting for my flight home after an excellent RAD Studio XE8 launch event in Brno (Czech Republic) today. There was almost one hundred - primarily - male, Delphi, VCL developers gathered to see what's new and hot in XE8. The energy was good and there was a lot of positive feedback around what Embarcadero is doing for Delphi and C++Builder. Obviously the biggest fun was building a Delphi app that is using new "TBeacon" component for proximity awareness! The E...
TBeacon and New Appmethod at IT DroidCon Today Beacons, iBeacons, altBeacons... Beaconing is probably the hottest new technology among programmers. Today I had a pleasure to present the latest Appmethod to developers at the IT DroidCon conference in Turin in Italy. Building natively compiled apps from the same codebase for Android, iOS, Windows and Mac with reusable components is always fun. Probably the most fun I had was with using the new "TBeacon" component for building proximity aware mobile apps. How could it be simpler? Beaconing is t...
Delphi live coding in Brussels - Code Monkey is back! Just back from Brussels in Belgium. This was the second time me and Danny Wind from the Delphi Company were presenting the "Build complete Windows, mobile, web service and cloud solution in 1 day!" workshop. The room was full and live coding went even smoother than last week in the Netherlands. Delphi developers really enjoy the new format of the workshop where the focus is on live coding and building complex systems from scratch. Of course we have started the session from famous "CodeMonkey in...
Delphi Live Tutorial in The Netherlands and CodeMonkey Just back from the Delphi Live Tutorial event that happened yesterday in Hoofddorp, just very close to the Amsterdam Schiphol airport. More than 160 enthusiastic Delphi developers gathered to see 6 hours of live Delphi coding. That was a brand new format of a developer workshop where two presenters (Danny Wind, Delphi MVP, consultant and trainer from The Delphi Company and me) were building live, from scratch a complete solution for doing an auction using mobile devices with the latest technolog...
