This blog post will describe one of the ways to mimic the behaviour of a MessageDlg, or any other modal form for that matter, in Delphi when running on a mobile device.
Mobile devices, or more correctly the OS running on the mobile device won't allow blocking code, so the traditional Delphi approach of reading a result from a MessageDlg before continuing won't work.

Jens Fudge is currently at level 51 i the game "IRL" (In Real Life). During this time he has become the Gold Medalist of the 1992 Paralympic games in Archery, has a lovely wife, two lovely daughters and a gorgeous Granddaughter and a Grandson.

Why do I use Delphi
I have been using Delphi since the first version came out back in 1995. My first encounter with Delphi was with Cary Jensen doing a presentation in Copenhagen. I was a student at the time, and didn't really have the money to attend the presentation, which was something like $250. Luckily my brother invited me. The $250 included a licensed copy of Delphi on CD ROM.
This was the days of DOS - Windows 3.11, so writing a program in Turbo Pascal or anything like it was a timecon...

The last two days have been awesome. In the beautiful surroundings of Nyborg with a view to the sea, and the bridge connecting the isle of Funen to Sealand in Denmark we just had a two day workshop with MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel).
Basically MVVM is "just" decoupling your user interface with the business logic. Having said that in one sentence you can easily guess that Malcolm took us a bit further.
The workshop is a tradition in Denmark, we always have the workshop in April and in Octob...
Next week is going to be fun for me and around 30 other Delphi developers. Malcolm Groves is coming to Denmark to do our spring workshop.

Last week we had a very good meeting at the danish users group with almost 30 attendees.A lot of new people were there, and certainly some people I've known for 20 odd years.

The last two days we, DAPUG - The danish Delphi Users Group, had Danny Wind presenting various topics like Parallel Programming Library, REST servers, JSON, Firemonkey styling, IoT and home automation and many other topics.
During Dannys presentations he showd us some very cool apps running in production in The Netherlands (which we for obvious reasons never got the code for). Later we got to play with the Vera home automation box he brought.

Just the day before yesterday we had a meeting in Dapug, the danish Delphi Users group. The main topic was how to connect to various databases on various platforms. Also different coding styles with regards to databases.
