Exploring IoT Gadgets for Developing Connected Experiences Connectivity is at our fingertips – figuratively and literally. For the first time in history, the human body is being used to interface with a new generation of gadgets and devices. With the invention of motion and gesture control devices like the Myo Gesture Control Armband and the Emotiv Epoc brain computer interface headset, the human body is now able to control everything with the flick of a finger, simple motion or through thought patterns.   In this article, we are going to highlight key new IoT (Internet of Things) devices that developers should consider when developing connected solutions for the home and medical space.

3 Cross-Platform UI Strategies for C++ Developers C++ has had a well-earned reputation for being a powerful, high performance cross platform language. It has also enjoyed great success within embedded systems of all types as C++ is excellent with low level hardware and it is supported on virtually every single operating system. Why then hasn’t it become the de-facto programming language for mobile, cross-platform development?  One of the key reasons is that the creators of Android and iOS selected different primary languages for their app...

Top 5 Best Practices for Mobile UI Design In this post I will cover the top 5 best practices to achieve great mobile user interface and user experience application design.   When designing mobile applications you should use standard interface and experience design patterns that users expect. Navigation across the application should be gesture enabled and flow in a clear and effortless fashion. Do not try and replicate the desktop experience on mobile but rather extend it from a top down fashion. Use responsive design concepts to adopt to the evolving ecosystem of screen sizes and form factors. User interface (UI) is a subset of user experience. If the user experience were a road trip (getting from point A to point B), the UI would be the roads and the scenery. If the roads and the scenery were great, but ultimately didn’t get you where you wanted to go, then the overall experience would be a failure.
